Cooley's Colt - A Cool Letter x Xceptionally Dunn
DOB: May 8th, 2013
Passed away on May 24th, 2013
"This was a gorgeous little colt who would have made one heck of a show prospect in the halter ring. When he was born, the vet new immediately something was not right. His back hooves were not normal, and they were a lot smaller than they were supposed to be. Despite the obvious issues, this little colt got up to nurse and was doing surprisingly well. Tests were done on him and he was perfect other than his back feet. We already knew in the back on of minds there was a chance this could not be fixed, and we were right. Radiographs were done and we came to find out this little guy was born without coffin bones in his back feet. Specialists and other vets were contacted and no one had ever seen or heard of this. We knew in our hearts that there was no fixing this and the longer we would wait to put him to sleep, the more pain he would be in as he grew, as this deformity would not allow him to carry his body weight. The decision was made to donate him to the University of MN so they could study this deformity they had never seen. He was put to sleep while he was there."
